Evamist Features
*Wait at least 2 minutes after applying Evamist before dressing and
at least 1 hour before washing. The estrogen in Evamist spray can
transfer from the area of skin where it was sprayed to other people.
Do not allow others, especially children, to come into contact with
the area of your skin where you sprayed Evamist. Young children who
are accidentally exposed to estrogen through contact with women using
Evamist may show signs of puberty that are not expected (for example,
breast budding).
Convenient spray application
Evamist (estradiol transdermal spray) is the only estrogen therapy in a spray, which many women find
appealing and convenient.*1 Evamist is applied once-daily
to a small area of your inner forearm. Click here to see how to apply Evamist.
We asked women who had previously used an estrogen patch to rate the
convenience of Evamist vs their previous patch therapy.
3 out of 4 women reported that Evamist was more convenient
than their previous estrogen patch.

§ Patients were asked "Compared to your previous estrogen
medication, how convenient is it to use Evamist?"
Additional features of a transdermal spray
With so many products available for the symptoms of menopause, it can be hard to sift through the array of over-the-counter options, patches, gels, and pills. It’s confusing at best, and can be overwhelming for most. Don’t try to decipher it all on your own. Every woman is unique, and it’s important to spend time working with your doctor to create a healthcare plan tailored to your specific needs.
Though over-the-counter (herbal) products like black cohosh and soy may seem appealing, these types of products have not been approved by the FDA to treat symptoms of menopause. Because these products have not been fully evaluated for safety and efficacy, there can be risks to using these products that aren’t fully understood.
There are other transdermal estrogen therapy options, but consider:
- Fall off
- Have irregular change schedules (3, 4, or 7 days)
- Lead to localized irritation of the skin
- Get dirty
- Be visible to others
- Leave sticky adhesive residue
- Need to be touched with the hands
- Cover entire arm or leg
